This book immerses us in the poetic universe of the project Emily Bates undertook from 2010 to 2012 during several visits to Amami-Oshima, the biggest of the Amami islands off the coast of East China. The reading of the book is punctuated by black and white shots of the subtropical forest that alternate with intimate interior shots that show the inhabitants of this island: women who preserve as best they can the old traditions. The sky is glowing with the setting sun was presented at Mudam Luxembourg in 2012.
