1. How do you define your concept / style / brand?
I am a multidisciplinary Artist working as a graphic & textile designer, creating amongst other things, all-over illustrations that can be applied to different surfaces and accessories. Operating between the worlds of Textile, Design and Art, I create contemporary & custom hand tufted rugs, as well as colourful wallpaper designs. Psychedelic and acid colours are dominating in my latest digital illustrations; although I enjoy mixing hand-drawn figurative drawing and digital abstract, organic shapes.
2. What are the responsible values, actions that your brand conveys? Why are they important to you?
JÜ designs is a small local business. It is important for me to create my products myself and stay true to the studio's values. I realize the whole rug-making process from the design to the finished product. Sometimes, I work with a tailor in Barcelona, who helps me with some finishing of the scarf confection and the fabrication of my pillows. I try to stay sustainable with my packaging as much as I can. All of these factors are important for me because I feel that Craftsmanship is disappearing more and more and it is very valuable.
3. Which of your creations do you like the most? Why do you like it the most?
JÜ designs expanded itself a year and a half ago and I started to make tufted rugs. As a Textile Designer, this technique is very fulfilling and gives you so many possibilities. After creating products for Interior Design purposes and Interior decoration, I am starting to leave behind a part of accessory/fashion design for Homeware design. It is so exciting to be able to decorate a whole house with textiles, rugs and wallpaper design! And it seems that you are more allowed to work with vibrant colour palettes; people are less afraid to put colour in their homes sometimes, than on their clothes.
4. Tell us your story, your link with Luxembourg ?
I was born and raised in Luxembourg. It is my first Home, before Spain; where I left to study a Textile Design Master, 6 years ago. Nonetheless, I am coming back and forth for the past few years because I like the kind of special bond Luxembourg is giving me. That's why I would love to have more Exhibitions here in Luxembourg, to be able to show my work and make further connections between local Artists.
