  • Product Description
"INVENTARIUM" is a series of laboratory installations and composite places imagined by Michel PAYSANT. It brings together researchers from different backgrounds in a common project: physicist, designer, physiologist, art theorist, botanist...

Visual spaces, tactile spaces, motor spaces, these evolving installations take the form of immense project tables reminiscent of memory architectures as well as cabinets of curiosities.

The idea of research (quest and prospecting) is omnipresent. Most often in an intuitive or inductive dimension. But the inspirations, the shared intentions, the collaborations become the very foundation of the project: to co-exist. Crossing wires, creating relationships between partners and the motives that drive them - to prepare the ground for solidarity.

Taken within hypotheses and alternatives, between logic and poetics, treasure and taxonomy, making people see and understand, "Inventarium" carries Michel Paysant's continuing interest in the relationships between art and science, perception and memory.

The work, published by Bookstorming and the association for the prefiguration of the contemporary art center La Fonderie de Mulhouse, is intended to be an enlightening journey on the artist's approach: reproductions of the installations in the exhibition spaces, notebooks research, diagrams, plans, notes but also histories of scientific experiments, genesis of different projects, sources of inspiration,... thus revealing the other side of the workshop and thought in motion.
