Igshaan Adams: Weerhoud, the official catalogue accompanying
Igshaan Adams: Between Then and Now (10.02 - 23.08.2026), organised by
Mudam Luxembourg - Musée d’Art Moderne Grand-Duc Jean and
The Hepworth Wakefield in collaboration with
ARoS Aarhus Kunstmuseum.
Born in Bonteheuwel, Cape Town, Igshaan Adams explores identity, culture and religion through intricate works combining textiles, beads and found objects. Often described as a “dream weaver,” his monumental tapestries like giant candyfloss clouds carry the complex story of his life, blending contemporary art and craft traditions.
With texts by Simon Wallis, Nkgopoleng Moloi, Marie-Charlotte Carrier and Alfred Hinkel, plus an interview with the artist, this richly illustrated exhibition catalogue offers essential insight into one of the leading figures of contemporary African art.
