This book accompanied the programming of the
Mudam auditorium for the opening
exhibition Eldorado. It was conceived by
Mark Lewis and
Laura Mulvey. Their selection of films was made around five thematic sections:
Mark Lewis’ choice, atmospheric phenomena, movements and trains, the studio and a choice of films by
Auguste and Louis Lumière. Through those subjects,
Arrêt sur image explores the visual qualities, strategies and language that cinema has exercised since its origins, drawing its resources into its own nature.
